We really liked this campground. Heavily wooded and lots of site selection. We stayed at an electrical/water site, had lots of room and we have a 27ft RV plus Ford F150. Teh narrow roads and trees close to the road make it a bit hard to maneouver, but that is part of the charm. The low-flying Navy jets did get a bit annoying at times as they are so loud they shake the RV! Nice proximity to great little towns. Oak Harbour was our favourite along with Coupeville. Loved the island. We'd come back again.

This is a great place for a family; but reserve ahead of time for tent camping. This site is nice and secluded; elevated from the parking spot. The closest bathroom is NICE and CLEAN; quarters for showers. Bring your bikes - kids can ride in a loop! Lots of hiking to do and a visit to the lake is worth your time. Watch out the sites to the west are considerably more crowded and feels like really camping on top of each other. I would recommend sites: 166,167,161,158,156,151, 150,219,220,213,204,206!!

We camped in our tent in site #26 which was rated Excellent for privacy and general campsite rating as well... I would disagree with the state's rating... It was definitely more private than many of the sites... with nobody to see on either side or behind you. You can see the sites across the road from you. This is a small site though with barely enough room for our tent. We had just stayed at Cape Disappointment on the WA Coast and prefer it much more... Site 26 has the road in the camping area down the hill below it... so make sure you read the maps online well. Nice bathrooms compared to many we've seen... Do the jet boat ride from Cornet Bay... awesome!!

This is a beautiful park but with difficult access. We have camped there in a 30' motorhome and had a hard time finding as suitable site, even though we were there off-season and had lots to choose from. The park is very heavily wooded and the access roads are narrow with trees close to the road. Many of the sites also have tree problems. It is on hilly terrain and some sites that were large enough were not level enough. Another problem is the proximity to Whidby Island Naval Air Station. We had a lot of noise from low flying jet aircraft. Not far away is Fort Ebey State Park. It is just as nice and has better access.

This is a state park, so you won't find all the comforts of home. Sites 1-78 are the "electrical" sites, and they even have 30/50! No cable, but I got decent reception on the antena. If you make a reservation on the web, you are charged a "reservation fee." Excuse me, how does this "encourage" us to use the web? Being a state park, the sites are kind of haphazardly located, dirt spots, with bramble bushes separating them. My spot was relatively level, I was surprised! I arrived on a Saturday in April, thinking I would have to dry camp. I was surprised to get an electrical site, but I'm sure once summer hits, you need reservations for these sites. I enjoyed my stay, would have liked to stay longer.
