||J.W. Wells State Park is situated on the western shore of Green Bay Waterfront just 30 miles south of Escanaba, Michigan. The town of Cedar River is about one mile north. The 178 unit campground has an abundance of waterfront campsites and we were very pleased with the quality of the facilities.
We were in campsite number 26 which was a waterfront site that offered 20 amp electricity and just a short walk to the shower building. The site was about 7 feet above the water's edge but, had a worn path down to the shore. We watched the sun rise over Green Bay and decided this park was on our "return again" list. The park has about three miles of shoreline that can be explored. Activities offered at the park include hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, and horseshoes. The campground is open April 1 to December 15; modern toilets only from May 1 to October 15. Reservations are accepted and our cost was just $12.00 (09/1998). |
