This was our 1st time camping at this State Park and I was impressed with the campgrounds themselves. Very nicely laid out, shady, plenty of room between the sites, and very friendly staff when you check in. What we did not like was the bathrooms. Not cleaned at all during our 3 day stay, which meant mud on the floors by Sunday morning and dead bugs on the appliances in the bathroom as well. Our site was also about mid-park, but was also close enough to hear the train tracks with whistles blowing 7-8 times during the night.

This is one of our favorite campgrounds. Very spacious sites and very scenic. It's about 1/2 hour drive to Galena. Across the street from the campground there is a free boat launch, bait store and restaurant. There is also a small camp store on site. The hiking trails are wonderful. The campground is very large and usually has sites available for the summer weekends if you arrive on Friday evening. The grounds are very nice for biking and long walks.

You never know what to expect a State Park campground and we were pleasantly surprised at how nice Mississippi Palisades campground was. There are over 240 sites here, 112 of which are electric. There are 3 shower houses with flush toilets spread throughout the campground and for the most part were clean. They were a bit on the rustic side (bare concrete floors and walls) but not too bad. I would use them. The campground is very spread out with a wide variety of sites. Some are very wooded and others are out in the open, but for the most part the sites are very spread out and if they don't allow a lot of privacy, you do get a lot of space. There are also quite a few pull through sites, which surprised us. We were also surprised at how many sites were available on a Saturday afternoon in late June. Plenty of sites to choose from and lots of space compared to Morrison Rockwood State Park down the road. Mississippi Palisades State Park offers lots of hiking trails of varying difficulty levels and amazing views from the bluffs over the river. There is a marina on the river right across the entry to to campground and seemed to be popular with the boaters who stayed in the front part of the campground near the entrance. There is also a fairly large camp store on site, which we did not get a chance to visit, but seemed nice. Overall, a very nice state park for camping.

Nice shaded sites. Not too close to neighbors. Decent showers and restrooms for a state park campground. Beautiful park.

A great state park, very scenic. The campground is nice and clean, with shaded sites and several shower houses. Make sure you check out the trails and overlooks to the Mississippi River.
