This is a Winter-Texans park, large level sites with concrete patios, near all Valley activities and Mexico shopping, a fairly new park with activities limited to mostly dancing. An additional activities building is being built. Washing RVs OK. Modem hook-up available in small library/game room if room not in use. (Most of the time room is in use.) Gated park. Moderate price.

Once again we were back in the land of the "Winter Texans." I'm not sure how to explain this phenomenon exactly, except to say it's a part of Texas that welcomes the influx of travelers from northern climes who want to winter in Texas to get away from their inclement weather. As a result there are towns that have mile after mile of nothing but RV parks. I can only imagine what it must look like from the air. Well Harlingen is definitely one of those towns. 400 sites all full hookups. Heated pool, hot tub, clubhouse, lots of planned activities, library, card room, game room, laundry, manned security gate, tennis court, mini-golf, bathhouses, horseshoes, bocci court, volleyball court, shuffleboard, croquet, ice. No campfires, no picnic tables. As you might have guessed by now, Bob loves to have his campfires and misses it when he can't. The winds in the area are extreme. When we were there they were 30-40 mph winds. Campground is very easy to access. All roads are paved asphalt. As beautiful as the park is, it doesn't have the natural aesthetic beauty that we have been able to find in some of the state campgrounds. I guess as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and to me, a park with a lot of trees, flowers, water, etc., is really beautiful. We met Sherry the campground manager upon check-in. We couldn't have asked for a more personable, friendly person. She was just a delight. Everything I've seen was kept in an absolutely immaculate condition.
