Beech Fork is a very clean campground with a nice lake and good facilities. The people that work there were very nice and helpful. The one thing we did not like about it was, if you enjoy the woods, you are out of luck. We prefer to camp in the woods under shade trees. Not many trees in the camping area. Kind of like camping in a big field around a lake. The campsites were very nice and open, but too open for my taste. I don't live far from the campground, so for a quick get away it would be nice, but for my taste and a long weekend, I prefer camping in wooded areas.

If you want a chance to get back to nature and just relax and maybe get some fishing in, then this is the place for you. Beech Fork State Park is located next to a lake. Which unfortunately, due to the time of the year and lack of water when we visited, was down considerably. The campgrounds were constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and feature four separate camping areas. We stayed in the Old Orchard area which was near the office and had full hookups. This is the only area that is open all year round. In case you haven't already guessed I am NOT a big nature lover. Don't get me wrong. I like the outdoors, but I can take it in small amounts. Bob, on the other hand, was ecstatic! He was away from the bright city lights and able to study the stars to his heart's content. I think I am more like the gal off Green Acres. However, this stop did give both of us some time to catch up on things we needed to get done. Writing, cleaning, writing, straightening the trailer, writing, (Oh well you get the drift). The park personnel that we met were extremely friendly and more than willing to go the extra mile to help you out in any way that they could.
