Spruce Meadow is a few miles from the ferry terminal in the town of Auke Bay, west of Juneau. It's very wooded, so mosquitoes were ever-present. Because Juneau has had some electricity problems due to an avalanche in April, at the time we stayed campers who used an electrical hookup were charged a kilowatt-per-hour fee. Also, the washers and dryers were very expensive--$3.75 per wash, $3 for 40 minutes of dryer use. The showers were clean and large. There are a lot of nice touches throughout the office and the grounds.

Easy to get into. Really pretty. Surrounded by trees. Park is borded by the Tongass National Forest.. Owners get great points. As we pulled off the ferry Linda Williams, who runs the CG along with her daughter Corinne, was there to greet RVers getting off the ferry and tell them something about the park. We had reservations and she called us by name and welcomed us "home - to Alaska". Really gave us a great feeling. Everything was clean and well maintained. The restrooms and showers were nicely decorated, very homey feeling. On City Bus Line, near Mendenhall Glacier, near Auke Bay Boat Harbor, a number of trous available from town, Salmon Hatchery, Botanical Gardens Tour, and Mt. Roberts Scenic Tram. We got directions from the CG to a restaurant called the Thane Ore House. The atmosphere was very interesting but the best was the "all you can eat" grilled Salmon and Halibut, and BBQ ribs. The food was very good. There are a number of excellent restaurants in town.
