Chickasaw National Rec. Area is marvelous as well as beautiful. We camped here two separate times this summer for a week each. We cannot wait to go back. We stayed at The Point area in a travel trailer. There are water and elec. hook-ups but no sewer. There is a dump station. The sites are large, level and clean. There are also tent pads at the sites. The bath house and showers were very clean. The Platt area of the Rec. Area, which was originally Platt National Park, was built by the CCC and it is magnificent. The creeks are ice cold, spring fed and fun. There is a large and informative Nature Center as well. The also offer the Junior Ranger program which my grandson participated in and received a badge for completing tasks related to the park. The trails are great and well marked. We prefered The Point area rather than The Buckhorn area for RV camping. The Platt area has numerous campsites for tent camping. What a treasure.

Summer of last year I visited the small and cozy town of Sulphur Oklahoma where Chickasaw National Recreation Area is located. I remember coming here as a child with my parents. That being one of the "good" memories of my childhood and my parents, I returned years later but as an adult. I went alone and sent a week here. It was just the vacation I needed and was able to think about things in my life and relax. Its a great place to be alone, with family and for people who have children.
