Turquoise Lake is a great place to visit. This is a nice forest campground.

Stayed in Stevens Creek Campground (National Forest Service), Located on U.S. 50, 10 miles west of Gunnison. Level paved sites, most very large, both back-ins and pull-ins. No hook-ups. Campground is located on Blue Mesa Reservoir with boat ramp, boating and fishing. Our site was a pull-in right on the water with a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. Inexpensive.

Stayed at Soap Creek Campground. This is a lovely campground near Blue Mesa Reservoir, but without lake access. It sits on Soap Creek, a crystal clear fishing stream with daisies scattered along the shores. This campground has vault toilets, no hook-ups, no showers. Fantastic views and access by hiking trails to the wilderness areas north of Blue Mesa. There are Ponderosas and spruce scattered around the campground. Many sites have shade and several are along the stream. There are walk in camp sites for tenters along the stream.
