This is an awesome campground about 8 miles outside Gatlinburg on Hwy. 321. The campground is small, but has nice wide campsites. Most are gravel, but there are several paved pull-through campsites for big rigs. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The campground is immaculate and nicely landscaped. The pool and hot tub were closed for the season during our visit, but appeared to be extremely well maintained. There is a nice playground for children and a "group" fire pit. The restroom/showers were spotless. The ladies room was painted a bright sunny yellow and was decorated with wallpaper, curtain, pictures, and flowers. I felt like I had walked into someone's home!! The owners are extremely nice and helpful. Mr. O'Leary came down to our campsite after we checked in to see if we needed any help in setting up. We will camp here every time we visit the Smoky Mtns.

Smoky Bear is a small, blacktopped campground nestled in the mountains with mostly pull-through sites. Its about 20-30 minutes outside Gatlinburg and is not on the trolley route. However, you can come in towards Gatlinburg at the fire station which is a trolley turn-around and parking point and take the trolley into Gatlinburg and avoid the parking fiasco. The campground has ample electricity, swimming pool (during summer), nice social hall, and Roxanne can sing a mean country song! This is where the Foretravel Club held our spring rally last year and the sites were accessable even for the large rigs.

Nice campground with lots of trees away from the craziness of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. Come during the off season, mid September, it will be much quieter. Bathrooms and showers were clean, even the wife couldn't complain. Owners were always around and very friendly.
