Loved the fact that you could view the bridge from the lakefront. ( I hesitate to call it a beach due to all the rocks, lol)

Upper campground has much better restrooms and showers. Lower CG east restrooms are better but the west restroom and showers are outdated in need of remodeling! Lower shore area has the spectacular view of the bridge. Sites right on the shore do not have electric!

It's location is perfect for the Mackinac Bridge Walk on Labor day; you are on the Bridge 5 minutes walk from your site. There are 'upper' and 'lower' campgrounds; the lower is probably a better choice. Some million dollar views of the Straits from the shoreline of the lower camp. It still is a State campground, so things are not perfect, but the restrooms are clean, the electrical hookups are recently modernized, the water is City water, and you are short walk or drive from all the tourist traps.

We stayed at the lower campground (site 115). Was a bit disapointed in the size of the site. Very small could not have a campfire because the cars were parked so close to it. I'm sure there are some much better sites. Plus the seagulls will drive you nuts here. They would swoop down at you while at your picnic table just missing your heads. The views and scenery are great especially the bridge at night. We will probably stay here again but for only for a one night stay while driving to and from the U.P.
