I've stayed at Metamora-Hadley 3 times now and would definitely go back. It's close to Metro Detroit area for an easy drive yet you feel very secluded, great staff and clean park. DNR patrols and keeps things quiet at night. Great lake for fishing, swimming and loads of trails for hiking. Campstore is great for an ice cream cones, ice or forgotten hot dog buns. Some sites are large and level on north side, but there are a few cramped spots.

This is one of my favorite campgrounds. I grew up going to this campground so I am somewhat biased. Pros - Close to Metro-Detroit area but still seems remote. Lots of trees, trails, kid activities, and shore fishing. Cons - The south campground, for the most part is unlevel. Be prepared if you need a level campsite. The north campground is better suited for campers that need to be level. Tips - South campground's bathrooms and showers are more updated than the north. South has much more shade. Lake front sites in the north are much better. Campground host is in the north campground.

This campground is located within 723 acres and Lake Minnewanna sits right in the middle of it all. There are two campgrounds within the park. The north campground which is mostly grassy and flat with adequate shade and the south campground, which is heavily shaded and hilly. There are a total of 214 electric sites between the two. The park was really clean and the staff seemed very friendly. DNR officers patrolled by almost every hour. We camped in the North CG and had a real shady site. Thats great for keeping cool but the site was mostly dirt which meant so were the kids. The park had made many improvements since the last time I was there as a kid. The fire pits were the new above ground cement rings which are great for safety and bad for keeping warm. The facilities were pretty modern and clean and didn't seem over run by groups of kids struggling with boredom. We spent one day at the beach and the kids had a blast playing in the sandy, shallow water. We also rented a paddle boat and cruised around the lake spotting turtles, frogs, and a few fish. There is a concession stand within the beach area but we didn't pay it a visit. Later that day we did stop by the camp store for a frozen after dinner treat. All in all I would say Metemora is a great campground and we'll definately head back there again in the future.

We stayed in the South CG. The sites range from tiny to what they call large. We had a tiny site. No privacy at all. If we hadn't been with a group we'd of not stayed there. The sites were well shaded. Placement of the firepits in many sites was extremely poor, some being right next to the neighbors camper. Ours was 7 ft away from the camper. It could have been further if we set up on the opposite side of the site. But then we'd of been tripping over cords all weekend reaching the electric post. There were betters spots on the site the pit could have been placed. Some sites are very unlevel, set on hills. Mud was a problem in spots as well as some flooding. Most of the staff seemed friedly except 1 rude grumpy ranger. The bath houses are new, but were not exactly clean from what I was told by others in our group. (made me glad we had our own) There are nice hiking trails scattered thru the park. This was our first & last visit here.We will avoid this park from now on.
