I'll have to give this Campground a 4. The campground is a bit spartan and makes no illusions otherwise. It is what it is. A quiet small campground with basic services. I climbed into bed at 9pm and heard not a thing till 9:30am the next morning when a pine cone hit the roof of the camper. Many Tenters. The campgroun is clean and close by to Freeport proper, Portland, The Old Port and area attractions. The campground is set next to the Desert Of Maine where 30 minute tours of the desert are available at 1/2 price for campers. The camp store is very small and has the basics. Common items are reasonably priced. The staff I found to be extremely freindly and helpful. If visiting the sea coast of the Brunswick, Freeport, Portland area and just need a clean quiet place to stop with your rig, Desert Dunes is an ideal step off pad. Gas 1.5 miles, major attractions such as LL Bean and Freeport Outlets 3.5 Miles. Portland is 15 minutes away by highway. Catch Harbor Cruises, Dinner and sunset cruises at Long Wharf in the Old Port. My wife and I enjoyed our stay and our visit to Maine.

Very nice quiet campground. Owners and staff very friendly and helpful. Clean rest rooms and showers$. WIFI available in upper level so get a lettered site if you want it on board. The Desert of Maine is unique and 50% off for quided tour for campers and you can walk it all you want. Has a pool and is centerally located for area sites. Be sure to go see the 1700 lb moose in Scarbough at Len Libby Chocolate store. Would definitely stay here again.

The Desert Dunes of Maine is located in Freeport, Me exit 19 off interstate 95, west 2 miles on Desert Road. We visited in mid May. Not needing to book one of the 45 site at this time of the year, however in the season you would need to make reservations. Rate were $25 per night with water & electric. The sites were very clean an kept up. The bathroom was very clean however the showers need quarters. The new pool was not open at this time year. In one of the trees by our wooded campsite was an owl's nest which we could see and hear . We visited the Desert of Maine where the kids had a good time hunting for gem stones. Discounts to the desert were available for campers. Two miles to down town Freeport. Very good base for the many things to do in Casco Bay area.
