The campground is nothing speial, but the area around it is spectacular. Located in a valley surrounded by redwood forests and adjacent to the Eel River, the scenery is unbelievable. Then there is the Victorian village of Ferndale. It is like stepping back in time a hundred years. There is a real blacksmith shop, a general store and a soda fountain, not to mention the art galleries and craft shops. Also within an hour's drive are several major state and national redwood parks. Its well worth "roughing it". Just don't plan your trip for August when the county fair takes all the spaces. Also, dress warm as year 'round temps are in the 60's.
