this is one of my fav campgrounds because it is so beautiful and wooded yet close to the beach!! reserve early, as most do, and you'll be delighted with your fellow campers (always friendly). the only downside is the oil in the sand on the beach getting all over your feet and knees. it's tar and virtually impossible to get off. still, el capitan is well worth checking out and staying a week or so!!

North of Santa Barbera, Ca. We camped here because the park we were headed to, Refugio SB, was closed for the winter and this park, 2 miles South, was open and turned out to be quite nice. There is a nice trail along the beach/cliff. The beach is rocky not sandy. Campgrounds are spaced nicely. The trees are not overgrown and we had no problem getting to the satellite.
