Overcrowded facilities, seasonals snobby, owners rude, it was clear they did not like tenters and we were informed they were 'doing away' with tent sites and wanted to turn it into all seasonal sites. Bugs were horrible and it was always noisey. The price was too high even with the close proximity to the beach as we did not have an enjoyable stay at all. We wasted a lot of money staying there a week.

Powder Horn is in an excellent location. Close to Old Orchard Beach and local attractions. The CG is not for us. Although 13b is a big site and our Outback 31RQS fit nicely into it the adjacent sites were too close. 13b is next to the road where some locals like to lay on thier car horns late at night and voice thier opinions about campers in general as they speed by. When driving through the campground, drivers must be extremely vigilant as the roads are narrow and it seemed not only very young bike riders but even adult pedestrians are oblivious to vehicles, not matter how big or loud. The CG location is the biggest thing going for it and for that reason I would stay again but would select a site away from RT 98. My family and I would not return for the CG itself.

We went to Maine in the summer of '05' and stayed at Powder Horn CG in Old Orchard Beach. The CG was clean and nice. They have 4 swimming pools! There was plenty to do at the CG, in town and the beach was only 10 minutes away! You're close to Portland for a day trip, boat tours and Freeport if you want to go to LLBean and the shopping outlets. There were plenty of places to dine and there are a couple of Lobster shacks within minutes of the CG. We bought a couple of Lobsters and corn on the cob. We went back to camp and had a feast with drawn butter and a few brown pops.
