In the Bankhead National Forest just a short drive from Double Springs. We camped there 3 years ago in a pop-up on Yellowhammer loop and it was very nice. This year we were in a Jayco Flight 20BH TT and had our DirecTV dish so we wanted the Firefly loop. Loved our site. The camp hosts were GREAT! Our spot was next to trail to lake. We walked it with our 2 pups one afternoon. Saw three deer the morning we were leaving. They keep the campgrounds very clean and we plan to go there again.

Gorgeous campground in the middle of the woods and sitting on Smith Lake; Lake is a short walk; Wonderfully peaceful and quiet, but a seven mile or so drive to get to anything; Two loops; The Yellowhammer loop is more wooded and allows for somewhat better privacy; The Firefly loop is also wooded, but has fewer trees between sites and is more suited to satellite. A few pull-through sites, but only on the Yellowhammer loop; many back-in sites suitable for big rigs. Full Hook-ups (water, 50 amp electric, and sewer); Sewer hook-ups were set in stainless steel "sinks" with an additional drain - first time we had seen this, but was very nice. This was the best campground we have stayed in so far; Natural surroundings, access to the lake, and wildlife within the campground; Great sites with full-hook-ups and complete peace and quiet; Would have gotten a 5 if it had laundry facilities and better water pressure; Not exactly easy to get to, but if nearby, you need to check it out.
