This wonderful State Park is located on the Buggs Island/Kerr Lake, a stone's throw from Clarksville, VA. Visitor Center has an inside museum, as well as an exterior display of tribal homes/structure of the Occoneechi tribe. Beautiful water views, and an extensive park with amphatheatre, horse camp area, target/hunting range and world class boat ramps. We choose our site based upon view, and with the elevated driveway (ground slopes to the lake), we had a little difficulty in placing our PUP and enjoying the camping pad with fire ring, lantern hanger. The loop we were on was a rather tight circle, and while we did not have difficulty negotiating the turns, larger RV's did due to trees and the interior culvert. We enjoyed our stay, visiting the town of Clarksville, which hosts a multitude of stores and services. A mini mall is on Virginia Ave. Uppy's is 1/2 mile from the park (gas, food, groceries and ice cream and bait). There's a Dollar General store and Food Lion Grocery Store in Clarksville. Kerr Lake is a major fishing/boating area, and many of the campers when we were there were tenters with boats on trailers. The only drawback was NO SWIMMING as there are underwater hazards.

Received from Pattie M for visit in Nov 2005
