The campground is great; however, the STAFF IS RUDE! We were awaken at 7:00 a.m. by chainsaws and loud beeping of lifts. The county employees said they were sorry, but they had work to get done. The campground staff was EXTREMELY rude and caused undue hardship to several campers. We cut our week long vacation short due to all of these inconveniences. The bathhouse was also not very clean. The toilets did not flush and the showers were dirty.

One of the nicest overall camprounds we've stayed in. However the campsites themselves could use some work. They are all course gravel & ours was not level at all. Thank goodness I had two sets of the interlocking leveling blocks. I used nearly all twenty to get it right side to side. They should take a look at the Corps of Engineer campgrounds in the upstate of S.C. Their sites are spacious & level as a billiard table. The rest of the campground is real nice though. We really enjoyed the bike trails.

Wonderful campground. Clean, quiet, staff is wonderful. We stayed in site 104, which in the back away from the activites and we loved it. They have a dog park, off leash, which is wonderful for the dogs, right on the water. There are all sorts of baggies for the clean up of the pets on the trails. Lots of garbage spots too. The trails are all paved. The staff comes around several times a day to make sure the garbage spot is clean. Not far from downtown Charleston, about 20-25 minutes. Publix down the street. Stayed for 2 weeks and had a great time.

We spent 5 days there and loved it. Even my teenagers had a good time. We used the waterpark for a few days and then spent a few days touring Charleston. Nice sites, very clean park, trails for walking. We will be going back.

We were just in Charleston, SC. Stayed at the James Island County Park. Beautiful campground. We were in the back with a large site surrounded by trees on three sides. Very private, quiet, and dark at night.

This is a nice campground near Charleston, SC for families with small children and teenagers who are looking for activities in the campground. There is a waterpark, crabbing dock, climbing wall, activities center w/TV-VCR, nature and bike trails, paddle boats, kayaks, and bike rentals. There's a shuttle bus that runs to historic Charleston and to Folly Beach. Check out Folly Pier and the State Park nearby for a great beach experience. The sites are spacious gravel lots, some shaded. The landscaping is great and the bathhouses are modern and clean.

Camp sites are adequate size. Bath houses are clean. Fire rings, nice attendants at gate house, you can fish, they have a climbing wall (extra fee), lots of area to walk and ride bikes. It rained all 3 days there - so we gotta go back! Within 15 minutes of downtown Charleston.

We had a back-in site that was adequate for my 40' DP. The park is really well run. My only comment is about the access roads getting to the park. I could find no road access that I considered safe for high clearance vehicles -we "trimmed the trees" coming and going. The Holiday light show is awesome - and it is included in the camping fee (you have to pass thru it to get to the campground).

We had a nice pull through site, which we like because our trailer is hard to back in. They have just a few pull throughs, so make sure to ask when you make reservations. The park was very clean and the staff friendly. We would stay here again.
