Nice campground, easy walk to the beach. We camped with a family group and enjoyed our stay. We liked that there is an area of beach that we could take our dogs to as we are a family who camps with our dogs. A short drive from the park entrance is the train station. Far enough that you can't hear it but close enough to use it easily. We took the train into Chicago for a day and visited Shedd Aquarium and some other sights. Fun trip with plenty of convenient and affordable activities.

The dunes are just gorgeous and the water is basically perfect, if you are able to swim in it. We were lucky and had no issues, but apparently there is some bacteria that often prevents people from swimming. The sites are close to each other but wooded enough, although it's not exactly private. There are rangers, everywhere, however who check to make sure no one is drinking alcohol. The bathrooms are spacious and semi-clean and the showers are free. The mosquitos are horrible during the summer though so be aware!

Beautiful SP, Clean shower houses. Good size electric sites. Nice beach w/ shower house and playground equipment for kids. Camp store is reasonable.

This CG was beautifully redone. Sites are spacious; lack of undergrowth makes them tidy but not private. Elec. at every site that we could see; 20/30/50 amp in post. Friendly staff, lots of ranger patrols. No alcohol allowed in this park; very family-friendly. Campstore on property sells wood & necessities.

Indiana Dunes State Park is located on U. S. 12 and Indiana 49 on Lake Michigan. The Campground was just rebuilt . It reopened in 2005. Level paved sites. Restrooms and showers are completely new. Paved roads throughout the park and campground.. The Lake Michigan Beach's in the park are first class! The campground fills up and you should make reservations. If you are a bird watcher this is the place to come during migration times!
