Campers should be aware that camping at Candy Hill Campground, Winchester, VA, is at your own risk. A tree fell on our (brand new) RV while we were there. The management’s response, "we were nice to you and took the tree off your unit, we could have told you to contact a tree trimming service and have the tree removed at your expense." We were stunned by such a response and lack of empathy from a business that is supposed to be in the hospitality business. To make matters worse, they moved us to a narrow dirt site overlooking a cliff in which we could walk around the unit or open the awning. Two days later, they mowed the site next to us and shot stones across the side and top of our RV. These folks are only interested in your money, not your experience. Be very careful staying at Candy Hill Campground in Winchester, VA.

I wish I would have done my due diligence and researched the reviews before committing to this campsite. I would not recommend this campground to anyone. There are various recent reviews on various sites about the employees being rude and aggressive. I could not agree more! They consistently drove up and down patrolling the campsites. I felt invaded and harassed. The rear of our camper faced a small grass strip then dropped off as an embankment with overgrown weeds. One employee even left the road and was “patrolling” the grass strip behind our camper. We would have left after the first night, however, they have a "no refund" policy.

Looking for a Campground to stop at on our way back to PA. Nice campground, friendly staff. The road in was a little tight for a big unit but will stop again.

Sites are close together, pricey and we experienced low voltage and was unable to use our AC until 9:30 PM without risking damage. Staff at the front desk was friendly and efficient. Two requests for a fire ring never produced one. They have rules posted all over the place; I felt like I was in grade school again.

I checked off Yes that we'd stay there again because of location ONLY. We used the showers and ran out of hot water as soon as we were all soaped up, had to finish in cold water. This place is a tight squeeze and you worry when you're opening your slide and awnings that you'll hit the one next to you. It's situated next to the highway and very noisy. I found it difficult to get to sleep, thank goodness we only stayed one night. If I ever find myself in that area I will look for other campgrounds and only go here as a last resort. Oh and the WiFi they advertise is a joke. You get 15 minutes free, then it shuts off unless you sign up and pay for it.

This is a very costly cg. I cannot find fault with it; it is very clean, very secure, well kept grounds, convenient. However, the prices are far too high, and I prefer fewer amenities since I don't have children. Until 2009, there were no other choices in the region, but a cg about 15 miles south was purchased, and is getting renovated. It is about half the price; I'll be going to the cheaper one.

Would never stay there again. The brochure on the internet is very decieving. The camp ground was very close together. Our slides were touching the awing of the people beside us. The people on our awning side could not put out there slides because of being to tight against us. We had to go buy leveling blocks besides the 30 that we had just get get semi-even. Our campsite was on a hill, we could look out our back window and see the air conditioning unit of the camper behind us. Will never go back again. We asked for another spot, but was told there was no others, but suprise, there were empty campsites during the weekend. Our kids were bored to death. They had to be 14 to do most everything available there.

Nice place. Not too noisy even if just off the highway. We have stayed here twice and would go back again.

Requested a pull-through site and upon arrival were directed to a back-in that was very tight. The post next to the sewer connection cleared the wheelwell by inches. Could not connect to sewer with the slideout extended. 15 minutes of wifi is free. When I asked to purchase a days connection I was told they were out of codes for one day and I would have to purchase a two day connection. As we were only staying overnite I promised that if they sold me a two day connection at the one day price I would not use day two because we would be gone. They can't do that. Tight road and spaces and lots of traffic noise.

A repeat visit to a nice campground. Roads and turns are rather tight, and some sites are pretty close to one another, mostly level though. Ours was a good stay, with daughter and granddaughter visiting with us in evenings. We relaxed during the day, with a quick drive up Route 11 to Martinsburg to relive my childhood travel memories! Pool was open and campground was packed over the Memorial Day Weekend, and we were fortunate to get a spot for our PUP. Staff was friendly and helpful, guiding us to the site and helping us get in place. We sat back and watched the weekenders leave and it was so silent within an hour. Road noise didn't seem as bad as our prior visit, and there is now a Super Walmart within a mile of the CG on Route 50! The CG store is clean, neat and well stocked, prices are reasonable. Pool was well attended, bathrooms clean and stocked. Kids loved the bicycles for rent and we drivers were panic stricken! Very nice CG. Trolley trip to Da-da's for icecream was available while we were there. OH - new WIFI service available at the CG - just requires and 802.??? card in the computer/laptop.

We don't stay long here, we stay here on our way to Myrtle Beach, SC. It is very easy on and off 81. Yes the sites are small, but we stay hooked up and only spend the night. But the shower house and bathrooms are clean, the pool was very nice and the store is fully stocked. We always look foward to our overnights here, but I honestly have to say if I was staying longer than just overnight, I too would think the sites small

Seemingly the only campground in the Winchester, VA area, we stayed in our PUP in September for 4 or 5 nights, and enjoyed our stay. Hilly property makes low speedlimit essential, especially with bicycles (low riders) being allowed only on pavement. Fully stocked store, with sourveniers too. Prices lower than 7-11 down the street. Some tight turns within grounds. Campground is immaculate, restrooms/showers spotless, laundrette well maintained. The only drawback is it's proximity to Highways 50, 37 - which have 24 hr. truck traffic, and you do get road noise. We had helicoptors making trips overhead to the hospital during our stay. Horses next door are great for the kids to pet, and the pool area is clean and well maintained. (Closed during our stay).

Clean, well maintained, courteous staff, and so crowded the awning of the camper next to us was almost touching us. Full service site. Everything on their website is there but it's just too crowded where the campers are. We were there to see the sights so didn't spend much time at the campground itself. Livestock pens right next door were noisy, I guess the cattle weren't real happy about their futures...
