We have stayed here every year since 2001. Usually we go during school fall break because the temperature is around 80-85 and water is still warm. Beatiful camp sites with gravel and very clean restrooms(with aircondition). Campers have there own section of private beach that is good distance from day use area and local condos. We try to get a pull-thru even though we tent camp. The extra space is ideal because we have 2 large tents and we like to have area for bocce. You need to reserve early if you want the pull-thrus. I would say this is the best camping at a state park there is in any state. My family loves to go back every year.

What a beautiful state park. Wish all of them were like this one. We were in a huge pull-thru site, and probably had enough room to put another trailer on our site. The sites are very clean, gravel is raked after each camper leaves. Lots of scrub brush between sites helps alot with privacy. The bathrooms were spotless, and are cleaned at the same time every morning. The beautiful Destin beach is a very short bike ride or walk away, and the beach was not crowded while we were there. Also has a nice day use area you can drive to, and only have to walk down some steps to the beach. I can't say enough good things about this park. We will definitely return.

Definatley one of our favorites. Sites don't offer very much shade mostly from scrub oaks, and some are on the smaller side, but there are some good sized pull throughs, might be hot in the mid-summer. Super Walmart right outside the campground and plenty of shopping centers, restaurants close by. These sites are nestled in natural Florida shrubs and not right on the waterfront. Beach is beautiful white sand and aqua blue water and a short 1/4 mile walk from sites. Bath houses were clean at all times, and a very helpful friendly staff. Day park for beach goers that probably makes beach congested in summer months.

This is a beautiful park with paved roads, gravel, private, and level sites. Wonderful bath houses with long shower stalls. Good dump station. We had site 58-a pull through site, very nice. Ranger station had firewood for sale. Super Walmart right across the street from the park. Not to mention beautiful WHITE sandy beaches!

This is one the finest State park campgrounds in the nation. All state park campgrounds should be judged by this one. The sites are large with some shade, the beach is beautiful and only a very short walk over the dunes on a great boardwalk which also has freshwater rinse showers along the way for your trip back. The bath houses were spotless and air conditioned(summer treat in Florida). The surrounding area is a busy resort town with entertainment, shopping and great dining, but when you enter the park it is like you are in your own private place.

Great state park......just no full hookups. They have water & electricity only. Sites are large and mostly pull-thrus. Just a short walk to the beach. We recommend this park to everyone.

I visited Hendersen State Park in Destin Florida in April of 2002. I picked Henderson because I was visiting some family close by. The park is located right in town, however once in the park you would never know it. The foliage and landscaping is beautiful. Completely gives you the since of being far away from the city. Henderson State Park is located right on the Gulf and has a beautiful beach connected to the campground by a boadwalk of nature. During my visit I noticed that the park is heavly populated by larger, more elegant, RVs. In my opinion this is not a place for tent camping. Happy Camping!
