CG was purchased by the town, and that's a good thing. Hopefully, some improvements will be made - power posts have no circuit breakers and broken covers, sewer pipes are unthreaded with some missing "caps" - the place could use some TLC and code enforcement. This is a REAL family campground - lots of kids on bikes with no supervision - some no older than toddlers riding in the roads! Lots of cars driving too fast made me uneasy while waiting for something bad to happen. Many sites are too close for modesty. I'd stay again "in a pinch", but the hour-long drive through the city traffic to reach the place makes a drop-in visit unlikely. If you don't NEED to go to Tybee, you can do better.

We found this campground to be clean and friendly. Many sites are shaded. The pool was clean and comfortable as well. There were a lot of kids there during our stay and none seemed to get out of control. Family-oriented park. The beach and lighthouse are a long walk, decent bike ride, but short drive and then you must pay to park. You can also walk or bike over to the river and hunt for hermit crabs or watch the freighters come in. You can literally bicycle to everywhere on the Island - very bicycle friendly. On the weekends there is a trolley that comes into the campground to take you up-Island. All in all we were very pleased with our stay and would like to return...someday!
