On your way to Yellowstone? Try the drive through "Wind River Country" and plan to stay a while. Pioneer RV Park in Lander, WY, which opened in 2004, is still a bit rough around the edges, but the host and hostess more than make up for that. You will not find a more welcoming and helpful couple than Paul and Phyllis Miller, who are busy restoring a 120 year old home that they have moved to the site to serve as their living quarters and the park's offices. There is not much landscaping yet (it still has to grow a bit!) but there is plenty of room to breathe, a wonderful laundry room, golfing right next door, amazing views of sunset and sunrise, big-rig friendly sites, and a welcome for your pets. The rates are very reasonable. It is just a short hop into Lander to sample the wonderful micro-brewed beer and good food, plus a number of small shops that wil make you remember how life was before WalMart. While you are there, don't miss South Pass City and Sakajawea's grave. Enjoy!
