We were just there a week ago. It was mostly a great experience. The campsites are kept very clean and are groomed before the next arrival. We did stay at a beachfront site, #53, and the view was beautiful and relaxing. There are palm trees that kids climbed to knock down coconuts right on the beach. Was it worth $110/night? You be the judge but the row behind our site was very nice also and $25 less per night(I believe.) If we went back there, I would probably ask for a site other than the one we were in. It was a shortcut to and from the beach and the restrooms. The sewer hookup was also set at a shallow angle and was backed up when I tried to dump. I had to dump at the communal station, and while doing so, an officious staff member demanded why I was using the station. When I told her of the problem(in fact, I was going to inform them after I dumped) she was skeptical, to say the least. Did I get an offer for some money off for the sewer hookup that I couldn't use? NO! Dogs also have to walked along Rt.1 with traffic whizzing by at all hours. Bring a flashlight because there are no lights at all out there.

My famiy and I spent many July 4ths at this campsite in the past 10years. Great American Outdoors is on the Gulfside of Key Largo and after our first visit we had to share the experience with friends who all felt the same as we did. The atmosphere was plesant, calm and safe. Unfortunately, the campsite was sold for condo construction coming in 2007.
