We’ve only been to Awenda once, and enjoyed our stay. The campground we were in had large sites that were very well spaced apart. The trees were tall and didn’t provide much screening, so we were grateful to have such distance from our neighbours. We didn’t get a chance to do much hiking, but the trail we did go on was lovely. The beaches are quite a hike from the campgrounds. We parked in the beach parking area and then walked down to beach #4. Beach #1 and #2 were quite rocky, and the waves were rough the day we visited. We walked to beach #3, which looked nice but was busy, so we continued walking to beach #4. This beach also looked very nice, but again the water was rough, so we returned to beach #3. It is sheltered somewhat and the water was warm and the wave action just right for children. It took us about 20-25 minutes to walk to the farthest beach (beach #4) with a 4 yr old, so be prepared.

One of our favorite camping spots. Mature hardwood forests. Large private sites. Close to Penetang. Lots of song birds.

Great camping sites. We stayed at the Turtle sites and it was private and spacious. The bathrooms were clean and the staff were really friendly. Beaches were rocky however, but clean. Looking forward to our next trip here.

This is a park for people that love hiking. I would not recommend it for very small children. There is a beautiful beach but it was a VERY long walk if you have little kids, I would not do it. My kids were 10 and 13 so it was fine. The beach was very nice...it reminded me of the caribbean! Completely flat and clear. Really great....but quite a long walk to get to it.

Awenda has one of the best campgrounds in Ontario. The sites are fairly spacious and well kept. Most of the sites we stayed on were very private and we were hidden from our neighbours with all the trees/bush. The washrooms were very clean as was the park. The beach is very rocky and not really all that great for children. The rocks can be slippery and dangerous once you're in the water. Another drawback is that the park is very busy but as memtioned before due to the site size it is as much of a problem as other parks where you're right next to your neighbour. Great park! I fully recommend it!

We went on Labor Day weekend ... the drive up was very nice - the scenery was excellent. The park itself is very beautiful w/lots of hiking trails. The Wendat Trail is excellent w/lots of plants and mushroom varieties. We stayed at the Turtle campground which is very quiet and the sites are not too close - lots of privacy and very peaceful. The washrooms are very well kept. The beaches are ok. Very rocky and slippery though at some parts. Water is very shallow as well. Definately go there again!
