We generally only stay at state parks, and I will have to say that this is the best Campground I have ever been to.
Elkmont has its drawbacks, like the lack of showers (go swimming) and pets are prohibited elsewhere in the park because of the little Tennessee bears.
But the forest was thick and a shade of green I havent seen from Illinois.
A river running down out of the mountains was at our camp edge and overpowered any noise that could distract you at other campgrounds.
The Smoky mountain national park has enough to do to keep you busy for a week.
River tubing, endless trails to hike, Pidgin Forge, Gatlinburg, afternoon nap on a boulder in the river... |
