My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in August 2009 as we were travelling through Michigan and visiting Pictured Rocks. We've both camped for years and I always research wherever we are going -I'd had read limited, though good reviews on Bay Furnace and overall we weren't disappointed. Good points: Cleanest outhouse and park I have ever experienced in 30 years camping. I suppose it helped that there were no showers - washrooms with showers are always wet but I could live without a shower for the one night. I was impressed that the campground managers greeted us at our site upon arrival with firewood and tons of local info - that was something we don't get in Ontario. The park was very quiet(something I insist on when camping and the location on Lake Superior spectacular. Negatives: There are only three actual lakefront sites and it looked like one couple was parked there for the entire season - something that bothered me as the lakefront sites aren't reservable - wondered if this couple just show up and never leave. Our site was fairly small, couldn't accomodate both our sleeping tent and our eat-in tent comfortably, but would definitely go back and loved Michigan.
Received from Kim O'Gorman for visit in Aug 2009 |
