Another fine Veteran's Day weekend with good weather. The walk-in sites aren't truly walk-in sites (you can drive back there) but are definitely tent only sites, which nicely secludes you from the main camping loop, if that's what you're looking for (and I was.)

I always feel refreshed when I visit this park in South Georgia. This year a special Veteran's Day celebration filled the park over the weekend, so I ended up tent camping in the overflow section with the rowdy Boy Scouts and a group of 20 somethingers... guess that's why someone invented earplugs. Even with the big crowd, this park is serene and scenic and staffed by friendly, caring folks. I did check out the walk-in tent sites and they are very secluded, so I'll make a reservation next time. US 25 is also being expanded to four lanes in front of the park as of November, 2006, so that will change the front entrance somewhat.

Located on Hwy. 121/25 south of Augusta. The entrance is a little tricky as the stone pillars make it very narrow. Park staff said that they have plans in the works to move them. Friendly staff, beautiful park, W/E, large, spacious sites.

This was an overnighter on our way to Charleston, SC. We had an end site with a view of the lake & canoe launch. This has a free, but small, aquarium. The springs have a nice walk around boardwalk to view the fish, gators and turtles. I would definitely stay here again. Nice biking on their 'hilly' roads.
