Would NOT Recommend… Campground & Facilities are nice however the atmosphere of the campground is terrible. The couple that owns the campground are VERY rude, they have a list of rules a mile long, and they will watch you like hawks. Myself and my friends are a group of hard working professionals and I can tell you they didn’t even give us the time of day right from when we arrived. If you want go away for a nice relaxing camping trip this is NOT the place for you to go, I would suggest sticking with state forests / campgrounds. Also with the state ones you don’t pay extra for dogs, visitors or extra adults over 2 on a site.

Date for our stay is wrong, We were there in October of 2010. I was with a group of Outbackers (Outback Travel Trailer and Fifth Wheel owners). We held the North East Fall Rally here. This is another campground where if you like peace and quiet.... Ashuelot will not disappoint. Our site over looked a huge field lined with Oaks and Maples. The fall colors were tremendous in the morning as the sun rose. The rec hall and bathrooms were neat and tidy, the store was well stocked with the essentials. The owners were friendly (a little nervous about our rally but) soon realized we were a good, friendly group and there was nothing to worry about! We had a great stay and would be happy to visit again. Local stores and attractions for most every taste. Bring your lounge chair, a good book and your favorite libation. Breath deep and sigh..

This campground is a gem. And, the managers/owners are really nice folks. They actually enforce the campground rules. What a concept! To "Jens" who wrote such a horrible review, if you act like a child you will be treated like a child. We had nothing but a great family camping experience at this campground. Much more so because the owners were so nice and helpful to us. We also saw how they handled other campers who were breaking the speeding and quiet hour rules and they were nothing but respectful to them. They live at the campground and expect people to obey the rules so everyone enjoys their camping experience. We will definitely return to Ashuelot River Campground with our family.

I brought my wife and two kids for the weekend 5/22/10. The woman who runs ths place is just not a nice woman. She is rude, cranky and does not care much for hospitality, customer service, or just being the friendly host I expect from a campground atmosphere. Check in was a nightmare and at 43 years old, I was spoken to like a child. Threatened actions would be taken for rules I had not yet broken. (I was still at the check in counter) I was openly critized for not reading the rules I signed for thouroughly enough. So she read them to me. And that was the theme of the rest of the weekend. She was rude to me, my wife and kids in every contact we had with her for two days. The group we were camping with had the exact same experience and she was quite the talk of the weekend and ruined an otherwise good weekend of friends and fellowship. I could tell specific stories about her unbeleivable conduct but the moral is here: Dont stay at Asheulot if you are looking for a friendly, relaxing stay.

2 miles of the main road is the CG. Its a no frills place(no pool, rec room, laundry) but facilities are nearby). There are sites with water/elec/hookups and plenty of sites for tenters. The bath house has free hot showers, but is a bit of a walk. There is a separate enclosed spot for washing dishes but it does not have hot water and can be a walk from some sites. There is a large play field and a swingset. As its the end of the season I was one of 3 people camping that night. There is canoe /kayak access to the river. The only thing I didn't like is that on the other side of the river is RT. 10 and you can hear the traffic all night. The offics has a mal camp store but Keene is about 10 miles away and several convienence stores/gas nearby
