Grayson Highlands campground is at an elevation of about 4,500 feet, so plan for cool evenings and nights, which we love. The sites are not the largest compared to other state parks, but they are more than adequate and the campground is very attractive. There are plenty of water/electric sites, and there is a dump station. The bath houses are small but very clean. There is a very large playground with a large grassy field for the kids and their games. There is a wonderful visitors' center with history films, exhibits, etc. One enjoyable feature is an amphitheater for local bluegrass band performances, church services, kids crafts and other fun things. But the best feature of all is abundant hiking opportunities. Some of the views are wonderful!

Received from Ken for visit in Sep 2008
