The campground is very close to the highway and the railroad tracks. I was awoken by car and train noise all night long. The "swimming pond" was a very tiny, mucky looking dot of water. The top of the bluff had an OK view. Overall, not that awesome.

This is a VERY loud campsite. Highway noise omnipresent but worse is the train rolling through w/ whistles blowing! Then you have National guard site almost next door so truly a case of planes, trains, automobiles...

I am lucky enough to have driven from Milwaukee to Lacrosse about 4 times a year for all of my 35 years and I love the bluffs around Camp Douglas. So I was excited to see that there was a State Park right there and that it was small with only 21 sites. The park was OK. You can climb (staircase) to the top of Mill Bluff and there are some spectacular views of the other bluffs and the freeway is right below you (never noticed people on teh bluff waving at me as I drove east!). The mosquitoes were horrible on the path around the base of the bluff but that's not the parks fault. My main complaint about the park and the reason we won't be back is the location of the campground within the park. If you look at a map of where the state park is, 94 cuts through it (which I never realized!) as does highway 12/16 and those 2 are very close together. The campsites are sandwiched between the freeway and the highway! AND there is a pretty active railroad that runs parallel to Hwy 12/16! The freeway noise wouldn't bother me, that's just white noise. Not even the sound of a train bothers me that much (I'm not a light sleeper) but the train whistle in the middle of the night kind of sucked. The park itself stretches quite a ways north of the freeway - I don't understand why they picked that location for a small campground. I would rather take a short drive to get to the bluff and the little pond than stay that close to the railroad tracks. The pond looked very inviting though although that's also VERY close to highway 12/16. Our site was fine although we didn't realize until too late that it was one of the few that wasn't shaded. If it wasn't for the location of the campground, I would have given it a better review.
