This park is located on the southeast shore of Lake Gogebic, which is Michigans largest inland lake. The park is very secluded (30 miles from nearest grocery store) and was a great palce to camp. First the good: Clean bathrooms, helpful and friendly staff, lots of lakefront sites, secluded location with beautful nightime skies, and easy (so we were told) to walk in and get a site. The park is pretty close to the Porcupine Mountains which has a million things to see and do. The bad: some sites were very small and seemed on top of others (something thats a trend I've seen in Michigan State Parks) and could become a problem if you have unfriendly neighbors. Also, several sites are located along the M-64 highway which isn't traveled much but could become noisy. The nearest grocery store is over 30 miles away and there is very limited firewood options so you'll pay a little extra. There is however a small grocery store near the park, but has expensive and limited options. Otherwise, the park is beautiful and spacious with a beach, hiking trail and huge picnic area. This park got a '4' but could become a '3' depending on how crowded it gets. We'll stay again!!
