Well I agree with the last reviewer the facility all in all is nice. I drove down from the mtns where I live and have never really experienced state park camping. I went in the off season so it was not that busy. But still I felt the staff were quite unhelpful. You kind of have to figure things out yourself. Also they are extremely strict about dogs being on leash. My dog is trained on voice command and will walk at my heal. I felt like I was on the show cops, when for one moment, I walked 50ft from my camper with my dog and a ranger pulled up immediately. He began accusing me of wrong doing and excuses. He was so very rude I almost left. He spoke to me like I just car jacked someone. Even as my dog sat quietly by my side. A quick warning would have done.

Sites have been newly renovated, now have concrete pads, new utility outlets, new tables and grills. Laid out in the pull-through loop design, so there is lots of room between sites. Unfortunately only a few sites have any significant shade. The lake is a favorite spot for locals during the weekend and the park gets very crowded. A heavy police presence is required to keep things in order. Park, campground staff were of little help when we received only a map of the state park, with little information about the campground. After two days we discovered there was a great laundry in one of the shower buildings. It would have been nice had we been given that information beforehand. All in all, this park has great potential and we'd probably stay there again, as the Denver area has few good campgrounds to choose from.
