First time we stayed here was in 2000, I was leary of staying here I had never heard anything about McClain--got there and could've moved in forever. Our cabin Pines, was right on the lake-as a cabin camper you have the option of closing the gate to keep everyone else from tent/trailer sites out. Campsite is HUGE! Sunsets are not to be missed. Vowed we would come back and we did...August 2005 stayed in the Hemlocks cabin--cabins in this state park are like no other I have ever seen--beautiful little decorative touches that give that homey feeling. Staff is always helpful, always busy maintaining the beauty of this place. Absolutely gorgeous views, this is a park not to be missed!

This is the most wonderful park. Great sunsets, nice sites, some have concrete pads, with a mixture of site sizes and privacy. The bathrooms are cleaned daily at 10:30am and 3pm and are usually very clean. The staff arrives within an hour after a camper leaves to rake and clean up the sites and fire rings. I highly recommend this park. The only drawback I found was that thee are only 3 showers for the whole camp. (103 sites). But it did not pose a problem.

This is a great state park campground. Nice, shaded sites with amazing vies of Lake Superior. The sunsets are not to be missed. Only one bathroom for the whole campground, but it was cleaned twice a day.
