The smallest campsite that I have ever been to, including State Park sites. The roads were very narrow, so narrow that 2 golf carts could not pass each other and both stay on pavement. It felt like they took tent sites and converted them to RV sites. There was so little room that parking the tow vehicle for my 28ft fifth wheel was very difficult. As a result of the difficult parking situation, I saw where some poor family from NJ had their brand new truck clipped by a camper trying to negotiate a tight turn. We will not be back.

We are basically new campers, my wife and I, but , we have been coming to Ocean Lakes for some times now, and have loved every minute of our it. We came to Ocean Lakes before becoming Campers, because it was such a joy being in this camp ground. I especially enjoy the time of worship, along with the clean bath rooms, the walks on the beach, and the feeling of security. When I ware my Ocean Lakes cap back home, I discover that there are alot of Ocean Lake campers around, and we spend time just talking about all of the good times that we have had at the camp ground. When we were at Disney this past year, we were telling people from Florida, from Canada, and other parts of the country, to be sure to enclude Ocean Lakes in their vacation the next time their vacation took them close to Myrtle Beach. You really do not need to go anywhere to get any thing, because Ocean Lakes has everything that you need to have a great time at the beach

We started coming to Ocean Lakes in 1984 when we first bought our popup camper. We have come back every year and we now bring our grandchildren. This campground has everything you need in one place. When we mention vacation time our children and grandchildren want to know where our place is in the campground. We as a family love Ocean Lakes and will be coming there as long as we are able.

We just returned from a 14 night stay at MB @ Ocean Lakes Campground. We have camped many times at MB beginning in 1979 when our sons were teenagers. We still camp with our younger son and his family who now pull a fifth-wheel with their college age children while we drive our motor home. We have camped numerous times at Lakewood, twice at MB State Park, and once at Pirate Land. This was our first year to camp at Ocean Lakes and very likely our last. We made our reservations for next year while we were in MB, but it is not for Ocean Lakes. The park is a good place to camp if you don't mind being run over by golf carts all day and evenings are the worst. We had our ladder ball game run over in our campsite during night time hours with tell tale golf cart tracks running though our campsites. The coverings on our picnic table benches were run in to by golf carts in the night and torn up. Most nights fireworks were going off well past midnight, and even though golf carts are supposed to stop by 11 p.m., there were many running by with boom boxes belting out loud music after midnight. Ocean Lakes was merely a golf-cart playground for teenagers whose parents obviously don't care what they are doing, and a wonderful place for folks to walk their dogs and not pick up after them. We have not seen this behavior at the other campgrounds where we have stayed. I hope the people who have no consideration for other campers continue to stay there, because we will be staying elsewhere. Ocean Lakes has wonderful facilities, but needs to enforce the rules they advertise.

We camped here during the Christmas season. The bathrooms were spotless and the hot water was in excellent supply. The site we had was large and it was a pull thru site. I think most all the sites here are pull thru. In addition, most all the site I walked thru was very level and some included a concrete pad (extra cost). This site included water, sewer, and electricity. However, there was also a connection for a phone and cable. We did not use those two. The indoor pool was luke warm, but clean and well kept. I was well heated too. The outdoor pools looked to be in fine order too. The staffers here seem to be helpful and friendly. I must confess that they even had garbage pick up on Christmas day! I was so surprised. This campground has most anything a person could want. There was a 18 hole mini golf course, a camp store, a laundry mat, very good security, several lakes (ponds), 2 very nice playgrounds, shuffle board, horse shoe pits, about 14 beach access points, a church, a rec. hall, an arcade, fresh water (purified water free, bring your own jug), campfires allowed, pets welcomed, and there are other items too. Overall, one who enjoys a crowd would love this place in the summer time. Even now, in the winter people have flocked to this place. I would say that it was about 30% full. We are camping in December. Yes, they do have golf carts for rent and I think you can bring your (electric only) own too. According to their brochure, they have a zero tolerance policy concerning these carts. It says, on the 1st offence (underage driving, impaired driving, ect..) one's golf cart is taken away. I wonder if they adhere to this. Wow, in the rec. hall they have a library (paperbacks mostly, free), they have bingo, parties, and a multitude of other activities.

My wife and I just returned from a 6-day stay at Ocean Lakes and in spite of its huge size found it the best campground we have stayed in the 12 years we've been camping. I was a little apprehensive when I checked in because of the number of others there, but approximately 10 minutes after I walked in I was out and on my way to the campsite. After a long ride through the residential section, which was easy with our fifth wheel, we found our wide and level site just a short walk to the ocean. All sites are pull through and other than the sewer hook-up was for rear outlets it's chock and drop. Yes, the golf cart issue could be a problem during a busy summer but the park was 's full and everyone there seem to respect the rules of the road, and I really liked all the customized units many had. Everything was clean, people were friendly, and the mini-food court / grocery store / laundry mat had a small town tone to it and was a great place to see the ebb and flow of the community as it passed by. Theris a great walkway from the recreation hall to here that is paved and winds through a wooded area with moss hanging of the trees. We found ourselves taking the long way back to our site quite often. Granted we were there during a time when the average age was probably 50 plus, so very few kids, but I would guess even in the summer there is so much to do they should have a ball. We had to leave a day early and I didn't even bother to see if I could get a refund because it was reasonably priced to start with and we had such a great time. Without a doubt on any future trips to the Myrtle Beach area we'll use Ocean Lakes only.

What a great place! We stayed in our travel trailer for 5 nights right near the ocean! Talk about beautiful! The ocean was great! My kids loved it as well! I do wish that the outdoor pools were open though. Two days were warm enough to go in, but they said that they do not open them up until late April. Everything was clean. A great place at a great price for off-season camping. The only bad thing is that they are so booked up for the next two years. I highly recommend Ocean Lakes Resort for traveling families!

We just returned today from our first trip to MB. We stayed at Ocean Lakes and were very happy. Lakewood and Pirateland are a short walk down the beach so we checked them out. From our brief walk through we were happy with our choice. They all seemed nice but IMO Ocean Lakes just "felt better". Our site was one of the worst in the park but we fit, had nice neighbors and typically don't hang around the site other than to dine and sleep. We made reservations to return next April and this time we were able to get a site with a concrete pad nearer the ocean.

This campground is way too big. There are hundreds of teenagers driving around in golf carts day and night. Obviously riding around in golf carts is the sole source of entertainment for the teenagers. We couldn't walk anywhere without fear of being run over. Not a good place to walk with young children. We won't be back.

I have been going to Ocean Lakes for 28 years. Every time we find something new to do. It is the only place to stay in Myrtle Beach with a family. Lots to do plus 24 hr gated security, kids camps, bike rentals, and discounted tickets to all major attraction on the Grand Strand. It is a 5 star four season resort, where you can bring your own camper, rent a camper or stay in one of the couple of thousand houses from one to five bedrooms. The resort is huge but is all relative if you rent a golf cart which is the main form of travel inside the resort.

My husband and I have been going to Ocean lakes since we were kids. We love the camping atmosphere. When we were in our 20's we baught a camper and left it in storage there for convience. Now that we are in our 30's we rent one of the many beautiful homes that are available for weeks at the time. We share with our daughter who is now 2 the same enjoyment we continue to have. Ocean Lakes has always been the best but you should see it now. WOW, the upgrades are so nice. Its a wonderful and safe place to vacation. Very family oriented. Security is every where. The locals are so nice and give good advice. We have planned to visit our home away from home in Feb. June and August of this year. We cant wait. OH, Life guards are great. They are very helpful and I find security in knowing that they do there job to the best of there ability. We saw one in action when a kid kept going out to far. Lets just say she took care of it. Im glad it might have saved his life. Good for her. Also, everything you need is there. We pick up a few groceries and park it for a week unless we go out to eat. If you have kids of many ages this is theplace you need to visit so you to can relax. And if your older they have accomadations for you too. Its for all ages!!!!!

We enjoy Ocean Lakes especially in the winter months. It is close to everything. You don't even have to leave if you need something. The majority of sites are very large. Many sites are paved.
