We loved our stay at Ocean Mesa. Its kept very clean, the showers & rest room facilities are exceptional, nice pool, spa and free wi fi. Since it is very new don't expect the trees & shrubbs to be big for privacy. Easy & safe walk (or bike) down to El Capitan state beach. About a 3 mile bike ride to Refugio beach. Nice walking trails & next to the El Capitan canyon with a store if you forgot anything, want a gift or momento. The price($90) was worth it to us.

RIPOFF...This place is like a tiered parking lot next to the freeway. We thought for $90 per night it would be something special, what we found was loud traffic noise, crowded pool, rv's packed on top of each other hot blacktop NO shade, we had to drive to and pay $8 to get to the beach at the state park. I could have parked in a store parking lot and got the same results and save $90

This park is a total rip-off. At $85 a night, we expected much more than loud traffic noise, a small noisy pool area, a very long distance and unsafe access to the beach, too many small sites with little space to park a car or truck, $2.50 for a cup of coffee (no lounge or recreation rooms) and a tent area that looks like a tailgate party. No need to make reservations at this park -- even in August. Now I can understand why.

Everything you could want in a campground at 1/2 the price. Perfect location, beautiful views, terrific trails. Each campsite has a nice fire pit, although, the rustic nature of the picnic tables are not very functional. Wifi is free, and good reception, but did not work the first night. Staff was much less then helpful with this. Did I mention how expensive it is. On the other hand, it's Santa Barbara, if the state campgrounds are full, and you want the facilities of an RV resort, you just cannot beat this place. One side benefit to the price is there are many sites available without need of reservation, at least this time of year.
