Reserved thru 800#. Arrived Sunday noon. No one to check in or service campers Sunday and Monday. This is not stated on web site nor did reservation staff mention it when reserving. Waited at gate for a long time, no paperwork in box. No one answered the intercom either. A camper came by and entered the code to open the gate. No map. Sections closed for season. Got to end of a road and b/c of a chain across the road to a closed section, we could not turn around our rig. Luckily the chain was not locked, we went in to turn around, and found a long enough and level site on the other side. Lots of permanent campers, small selection of open sites. We had to clean off foot deep leaves off the site! Propane is available at campground,,ha, we ran out of propane, You can get propane Tues thru Saturday 10 to 2, when went to get propane at 1:30 on Tuesday they said not until Sunday.. Oh but they are closed Sunday & Monday. Blossman Propane in Lexington is open M-F 9-5. The staff is friendly and they say they are under new management... Slackers?

Preserve with well-maintained amenities. Sections A&B were closed for the season while I was there, but numerous campers in Sections C, D & E. Bluestone or gravel sites with fire rings, picnic tables, full-hookups. Section F is a group area allowing horse camping and there are trails too. One of the nature trails from Section E features a pioneer graveyard dating back to the 1850's. The Yadkin River is also accessable from the campground, if one prefers it to two pools, spa, lake! Walmart Supercenter about 13 miles away in Mocksville, NC (Route 64W & I-40), and Food Lion Grocery Store about 6 miles away towards Lexington, NC. Childress Winery is nearby too. Closest eatery is the Tarheel Q - about 1-1/2 miles from the entrance. Restrooms/laundry were clean and well maintained. Management/Staff were friendly and helpful. Propane refill ran about $2.69/gal. Very nice preserve and we will return. We camped in a Popup and night time temps were in the low 30's.
