The train traffic and the train horns are a hugh annoyance. They go through day and night.

This state recreation area was at a good stopping point on our route from Iowa to the Heavy Duty Truck Rally in Wichita, KS on October 1. We basically saw it on a map, checked it out on the website, and decided to give it a try. his was a beautiful campground with the Platte River on the north and several lakes within the campground. There are lots of trees and open sites as well. Trees buffer HWY 50 to the south BUT a busy railroad track runs through the nearby town of Louisville and along part of the campground.
Could handle any size rig with no problem - the interior roads are paved and very well maintained.
30 & 50 amp electric ONLY; fresh water spigots for filling tank were widely scattered; two nice dump stations available. We had a few different site choices for satellite; there were no attendants at the time of our stay; bathhouses were decent, but the showers were pay-per-use quarter at a time; I do have to say that the Nebraska State Parks website provides a lot of information about the camping, but you have to bounce around a little bit to find it all.
This campground should have received at least a 4 for atmosphere alone, but we had to knock it down because of the constant train traffic all day and through the night. The pay showers were also a turn-off. The price was right except for the pay showers.
