This park seems close to the road, but there is not alot of traffic to offset the view of the river and freighters. Also, there is a secluded bike path leading from the park directly into Algonac, and the streets are nice to ride around through the canals. We stay here once every year.

Pros - Great views of the river, Canada, and freighters that travel down the river. The park rangers were really helpful and professional. Cons - This is going to be a very hot campground come summer time. They had to cut down so many ash trees. The campground is basically all sunny.

First the bad: Sites are very close together with nothing sperating them. There aren't even dividing lines, which is huge because park staff would make sure you weren't over lines that weren't there. Sites were also very small. The park is situated right on the M-29 highway, so if you stay in the Riverfront Campground, car noise is non-negotiable. Also, the park didn't sell firewood so you have to buy it at $10 a wheel barrow full around the park. Now the good: Very friendly and helpful staff, clean facilities and the freighters are amazing!! The park is right on the St. Claire River which is a busy Great Lakes waterway. The huge freighters go by on a regular basis and you can almost touch them! Not the best park I've been to, but the freighters make the trip worth it and pull it up to a rating of 3!!
