I camped here as a child and enjoyed camping as an adult. It was very clean and the baech is pleasant. The staff there was very helpful. While the campground was crowded, it quieted down for peaceful sleeping at night. My children thought the ranger program was kind of lame, it was about salmanders and they thought there should have been a live one there, but they liked the poster they got.

stayed at sugarloaf campground (of of 4 at the state park avail)..this is has private beach as opposed to portage lake camground which is near public beach.
the campsites are pretty nice, bathrooms always clean and private.

Wonderful campground. The beach was clean and very nice. It was a long walk from our campsite however, but well worth it. The park has nice sites, the one's along the woods are very nice and roomy. Bathrooms were very clean, had nice water presure. Bring your bike, it would have made the way to the beach and store nicer. Very hilly campground kids had a blast riding their bikes around.
