This park has some amazing views. Stay in the upper campground as the lower one is nothing special. There are no views from the campground itself but it's still a nice camping area right on the top of the highest point in Alabama. We are self contained so I can't comment on the restrooms. Note what another reviwer said about the sewer lines being six to eight inches above ground - but hea - they have sewer hookups! There is a resturant that overlooks the valley - great place to eat dinner - but the food was just "ok" - small place run by a concessionaire so the vegitables were straight out of a can for example. Some most excellent hiking in the area (get a map at the office) to several interesting waterfalls (see photos). We also saw deer and other wildlife (see photos) wandering through the park.

The setting for the park and campground is great. Beautiful views from the lookouts at Bald Rock and Pulpit Rock. CCC built the lookout tower at the hightest point in AL and the view is awesome. Campground is nice, but most sites need lots of updating and leveling. Most sites are small and washed out, with big ruts in them. Stay on outer perimeter and sites are a little better. Staff is ver friendly and helpful. Bath houses are old ut very clean. Lower campgroud is mostly smaller sites on grass-little gravel.

What a relaxing place. Not on the main path, so very quite and not packed out. View from swimming pool is great for sunsets. Rock tower is highest point in Alabama, and you can see in all directions. During summer thunderstorm season, is fun to watch them roll into the valley below, while your safely miles away. Great trail for everyone to the lookout point. Has ramp the whole way for wheelchairs, or a dirt path below. Many super romantic cabins that are popular during the mating season...Valentines. Larger cabins to for groups. Full hookups in the campground. Very well laid out sites, each one different. Campfires are welcome too. Many motorcycles visit the entrance area as roads are very curvy and fun for all types.

This is the first time camping here and we enjoyed it. The sites are comfortable sized for the most part, some are small. The park is very quiet and patrolled. There is a few things to do ,like going to bald rock, the pool which is clean and nice. There is a lake about a mile below the restaurant and camping area with paddle boats and fishing. The cg could use a little updating in the playground and a few sites were not extremely level. Take something to set your sewage hose off the ground, some of the pipes are 6-8" off the ground. We saw 3 deer going into the park and people up a few sites had deer almost in their site.We camped here with several friends from church, and had a good time. We will be back to this cg.Be warned, it is a hard pull up the mnt.Lots of curves and hills.I think you go up @2000ft from the time you pull off the main highway.
