We stayed at this campground for 12 night in July 08. L4 was a spacious, private campsite. It seemed that we got lucky with this site as other sites were on top of each other and rather small. We liked the private bathroom/shower rooms but at times there were long lines. Nice coffee shop at the campground, enjoyed the deck with with hummingbird and other bird feeders.Excellent location just out of the National Park and about 5 miles from Estes. A chalet was being built on campground, didn't hear any construction noise but the view of construction was not pretty.

Please note that I'm not recalling the nightly rate (didn't get a receipt from my Internet booking). First, the positives: Fabulous location! The tiered sites up the mountain allow for a lot of privacy. We shared a "tier" with 2 other motorhomes; would've been nice to know those folks, as we were kind of close. But everyone else was far away. Great amenities within walking distance, once you hook up your rig. Nice coffee shop with Wi-Fi (Estes Perk). Negatives: Initially, I thought it was positive that there was a private toilet/shower combination room. After I showered and dressed in the morning and opened the door to find an almost angry mob waiting, I realized the drawback. There were only 4 unisex toilet/shower rooms for all those campers at one level. (There was another set somewhere.) Not very efficient for processing the toilet users from the showerier. I felt sorry for the parents of young children.... Overall, we were happy to stay there for one night. Beautiful location. But we would not return for an extended stay. The whole shower/toilet shortage would get very old. Also, they are building a B&B facility--lots of construction noise starting pretty early.

If I could give this a zero, i would. This place was a scam as far as I am concerned. Our site was right next to another, meaning two tent trailers to one site. The pictures are completely decieving. This campground sits right off the highway up a dirt hill about 20 feet. The 'loops' were so tight we had trouble getting out without our trailer and the people in the site next to us would have had no where for their vehicle had we stayed. We ended up taking our chances in Morraine and found a beautiful site with elk everywhere flush toilets. I would recommend national park retreats to no one!!! Plus they are doing construction on a Chateau...if it is anything like this place it will be closed before it opens! From the pictures, I really thought this place would be nice and better then the RV parks that are like parking lots...I was wrong! If there is no where else to stay...stay on the side of the road! We stayed for all of 5 minutes. Sorry, no pictures but if you go to the website, look at site G4 and G3 and imagine the picnic table of g3 is a tent trailer and the rockpile is the start of g4 where the other tent trailer goes...the pole in the background is the highway to rocky mtn. national park.

National Park Retreats CG, is on a terraced hillside. The campsites are VERY small. In fact we were surprised to see 3 picnic tables/utility boxes/fire rings in a campsite that should've been only for one camper! The area is pretty nice...with trees in various areas, just too many campers are expected to be in the same small camp-spot. No Pool

This is a beautiful location and campground. The best sites are down below with the rocks and trees, but mostly designed for pop-ups and tents. We saw one full hook-up site in this area (C-3). The site for our 30 ft TT had 15 amp service. Sites & roads are dirt, close together with tight turns. Dump station is on road exiting park and difficult to manage even for the blue tote. Restrooms/showers were clean & staff accommodating. They do have a full hook up area but sites are close together, view isn't as good & parking tight. We didn't like the other campgrounds in the Estes Park area. This campground takes first with it's scenery and location. We would stay here again but would most definitely book ahead for Site C-3.
