The best place to camp in the Keys. We had a water front sight. It was beautiful. At night the stars where so clear and bright. The water at our sight was kind of rocky so would recommend you bring your water shoes. We were hardly bothered by the bugs as a cool breeze keep them away except for our last night. The only thing we missed was our nightly campfire, not allowed in the keys due to severe dry conditions. This was our fourth camping trip here. We love it!

This is certainly a beautiful location, smack in the middle of the Keys, fantastic turquoise water. The down side it is in the keys and a loooooong drive for us. As much as we loved it we probably won't go again for a long time. If you have a tent, you will need nails rather than stakes to get into the limestone sites. The beach is beautiful, but the first 3-4' into the water has sharp coral rather than sand--very hard on the feet! To get a reservation we checked the ReserveAmerica site several times a day for weeks looking for an opening. We were lucky and found one on the days we could be there.

Nice paved interior roads & gravel camp pads. Dump site is easily accessible for big rigs. The beaches (3 of them ) are great as is the sunset from on top of the old bridge. Yes there is some road noise, but you are in the Key and almost everything is 'just off the hwy' . The only draw back to this park is that it is almost impossible to get a reservation for a site. Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance. We managed to get a site for 1 nite. (someone must have cancelled) Just for grins I checked the web site & discovered that this site is booked every nite for the next 11 months. So plan ahead if you want to stay here. FYI - if you are a tent camper - Sandspur sites 62-72 are RIGHT ON THE WATER and beautiful.

Once again the Florida State Park system has pleased us! Campground/park offers sandy beaches, plenty of snorkeling and diving areas, historic bridge, boat docks and marina. ALL sites DO retain water when it rains, bathrooms were kept very clean, RV sites are limited, plan ahead (we reserved 11 months in advance for this trip). Waterfront sites are very nice and offer great views, but unless you are totally self contained expect a good walk to the bathroom. Very little to no shade on most sites, they do not spray for mosquitos at this park because of the butterflies, so bring your deet! Great local places to eat nearby and only a short drive to shopping. Best of all Key West is less than an hour away!
