Just returned from my first bad experience in a Texas State Park. The park was in terrible shape, there was no signage for trails and when you did find them, they were almost in-passable. There were no park hosts, so the weekend party went past 10 PM. The sites are way too close together. Our neighbor and his two children and wife were less than 6 feet away, no kidding. I will not go back.

Nice Park, lots to do with the kids, horseback riding, playground, swimming, canoeing, hiking all part of the facility. Sites are not too close together but easy to get to all parts of the park. Firewood available at check-in for those who do not want to bring their own. Will go back. We camped here in a Motorhome.

We really like Lake Livingston SP. If you can get a premium site they are really nice. Sites 53, 57, 59, 61 and 64 abolutely huge. All of the premiums have a really good view of the lake. We stayed in Youpon and it was ok, but we will get a premium site next time. Lots of long trails for walking etc. As far as activities for the kids, there is the usual SP stuff, with playgrounds etc. Also remember that no fishing license is needed when fishing from state park piers or banks, so that would be a great option.
