I have camped here several times and always find that the worst part of the experience is the bathrooms. They are usually clean but in order to clean them, the staff hoses them down. Therefore, when you enter you track in mud all over the floors and find that there is water dripping from everything. This also tends to make it very humid in the bathrooms. The sites tend to be large and wooded. The campsites are within walking distance to the bay and marina area which is scenic. It is surprising to find such an area so close to the metro area and close enough to visit many of the historic sites around. I would recommend it only if you don't mind the moisture!

Very nice campground in Lorton Virginia. Close to Springfield Metro Station for trips into DC and surrounding areas. Bathrooms could be cleaner, however, they weren't too bad. You can't chose your water temp in the shower but it's usually warm. There are about 5 shower stalls (with room for changing) in each of the bathhouses. The laundry facilities are adequate. There are electric hookups at most all the sites. No water hookups on sites, but several located around the campground. The sites are large (some quite large!) with lots of trees and most have decent vegetation in between to make it more private. They are back in sites. You can make reservations at this campground too...AND for specific sites if you have a favorite. There is a small campstore. They do sell wood. On the park site there is a pool to use during the summer season (Memorial Day - Labor Day). There is also Frisbee golf. The park is located on the Potomac River and while the campsites aren't located on the water, you can easily walk to it for fishing, boating, etc. They also rent small boats (peddle, canoe, and john boats ).
