This park is awesome even in January. We stayed there for 6 days last week and we had a great time. The sunsets were beautiful and the wildlife was abundant. The park presented an interpretive program on Saturday. We rode our bikes and walked the beach and trails. There is a playground and shelters on the bay side. If you like getting away from everything, this is it. There is a couple of convenience stores outside the park but restaurants are 20 miles away in Port St. Joe. Try Peppers Mexican restaurant on Reid Ave. And Paul Gants barbecue near the bridge.

This is a secret gem of a state park in the Florida Panhandle. There are two parts to the campground--one is across the road from the sand dunes and beach, while the other is on the bay with lots of trees. There aren't a lot of activities for kids, except for the beach, but we brought bikes and kayaks and walked a lot. It is beautiful, and so non-commercial. Try Gant's Barbecue stand near the bridge in Port St. Joe -- amazing! Make your reservations through ReserveAmerica. We have a 38 foot 5th wheel and sites 1 through 4 are the only ones we will fit in. So peaceful and off the beaten path, past all the huge new beach mansions. It is a real treat!
