Very nasty. Bathrooms were not cleaned the intire 3 days we were there. Will not stay again. Much nicer campgrounds within driving distance. Staff seemed very rude at times.

We actually just got back from a 10 night stay at Frisco Woods 8/18/2010 - 8/28/2010 (the drop down only goes to june 2010) We had soundfront site S20 with 30 amp elec and water and were in a PopUp.It was a perfect site for us, unobstructed view of the sound,we could launch our kayak right there, it was a fairly level open site with 1 tree (not a shade tree but we could hang our clothes line on it)I actually prefer an open site on the outerbanks because trees and vegetation are hiding places for mosquitos and other biting bugs and I want as much air movement as possible to keep them away. That said, there are plenty of shady sites especially tent ones for those that prefer shade. The roads in the campground are sand which was not a problem for us but I can see where it could be a problem for someone with a large rig. The bathrooms are basic and dated but were very clean. We loved having the pool available and usually stopped for a dip on our way back from the beach each day and since the laundry room was next to the pool, I hung out at the pool one evening while doing laundry.Oh and if you want to have a campfire it has to be up off the ground "no ground fires", we brought our outdoor fireplace with us from home. Will we stay here again? ABSOLUTLY!!!

Just left. Will not be returning. Planned our vacation months in advance, and called asking for a good site for July in March. Was given a small site next to a seasonal with a 30 ft silver converted hauler next door. So close that our awning touched the side of his trailer. The scenery got better when a pile of gravel , used to fill the ruts in the road, were dumped in front of our campsite. We were offered another site, but after an hour long attempt, and scratches on the side of our RV, we were usable to maneuver into that spot.

We drove through and checked out this campground the weekend before we actually booked a site, so we had a good idea what it was like(there are a lot of good sites WITH SHADE - unlike the other campgrounds we saw). The sound front tent sites are great if you don't mind a little wind and a really nice view of the Pamlico Sound. The site was equipped with water and electricity, but we had to rent a special ($10 refundable) converter so we could plug in our coffee pot. We booked #S10 and got stuck a little in our 2-wheel drive, but I highly recommend 4x4 if booking sound sites. The rest are accessible without it. Most primitive tent sites are shaded, too. They also have nice sites for campers and RVs (most are not shaded). Our kids loved playing in the sound and finding crabs, swimming in the pool, and watching all the windsurfers. The bath houses were in pretty good shape and remained clean while we were there. Laundry facilities were good, but a little steep pricewise ($1.75/load to wash odry). The log cabins are great for sleeping (just beds) if you're not really into roughing it (a few have a TV/AC). Our stay was very peaceful and relaxing. Nobody got rowdy or bothered us. Overall, we had a great experience and have already booked another tent site for Memorial Day weekend. I would definitely recommend this campground over the others in the area because it has lots of shade and pets are welcome...

We stayed at this camp ground for 2 weeks in June of 06. While we liked the fact that this campground was close to the beach, had several sites with full hook ups and had other amenites such as pool, camp store etc. we were less than pleased over all for several reasons. First: Dirty bathhouses, yes they moped lysol every day but the smeared feces in the toilet stalls, the filthy area around the sinks and in the showers was awful. Second: Lots of college kids and it was rowdy, loud, and never controlled. Third: We were there when tropical storm Alberto came through. I had heard on the weather radio to move to higher ground. We being camped out on the bay side point were concerned and I talked with the staff at the store, they said; "Aw, where is your sense of adventure." So we didn't move. Along about 7 PM when the winds were kicking up 45 to 60 mpg we were told to move by the owner...gee thanks for the warning...we believed the "locals" knew best. Fourth: One of the camp ground workers would drive around in a golf cart with his dog. If his dog did anything but lay perfectly still he would close fist punch it until it whimpered. My wife was very upset seeing this and would make her presence known every time she saw him after that. She was going to call the sheriff is she had seen it happen again. So, you can take my opinion with a grain of salt, or sand and take your chances with this one.

We just spent 10 days at Frisco Woods Campground. Although not cheap it was better priced than Waves in Rodanthe. Also only 1/4 mile from beach access and full hook-ups, pool etc. I would recommend them.
