This is a wonderful state park campground. There are 3 loops, one of which has water/electric (Loop B). Loop A is primitive and is in a heavily wooded area. Loops B & C are more out in the open. The sites are huge, with pea gravel pads, a nice fire ring and picnic table. The bath house was very clean, though the shower stalls are very small. There is no playground, so that is something to consider for the kids. But there is abundant hiking, with plenty of deer to watch. The homestead and Stone Mountain itself are enjoyable to see.

We chose this park because it was close to the hometown (Elkin) of my wife's Father and some long time un-seen relatives still live in the area. We were going to spend just one night to visit the relatives but found the Park to be so beautiful we stayed four and would have stayed longer if time allowed. Most of the campground is new this year. So it is spotless. The camping pads are wide and deep patches of asphault. The picnic table and fire pit areas at each site are well built up crushed gravel which translates into no sand, dirt, or mud in the Motorhome (very important as we travel with three Golden Retrievers), and the sites are huge so there is privacy. It's in the mountains, lots of trails, lots of wildlife, a very, very enjoyable spot for experiencing the outdoors. Unfortunately, I lost my camera before arriving at the park so no photos available.
