I chose Firefly Lake in the Northern Highland/American Legion State Forest (NHALSF) northeast of Minocqua because of the beauty and peacefullness that I remembered when I used to camp there when I was younger. Firefly Lake is one of many campgrounds within the NHALSF that is part of the Wisconsin State Park System. There are 956 total sites in these campgrounds. Firefly Lake has 70 sites. All sites are a very short walk to Firefly Lake. A small quiet lake with four small beach areas. Because of its size Firefly Lake is usually a warm lake to swim in during the summer. Pit toilets and hand pumped water only here, but you can cross the highway to Crystal Lake to use the showers there! You will also need to register at Crystal Lake when you arrive. BEST SITES: 36, 38 GOOD SITES: 10, 12, 20, 30, 34, 38, 39, 43
