We arrived at about 5:30 PM on a Friday afternoon and found the check-in station had a line and got longer behind me as I waited. Even though there were only 2 people in front of me when I got in line, it took almost 30 minutes to check-in and pay. The woman doing the paperwork was very nice, but SO SLOW! They need to get her to speed up or have a second person working. They did say there were only about 10 sites still available when we arrived, so we felt lucky to get a site. And when we drove back from dinner at about 8 PM into the campground, the sign did say they were full. Overall, Shabbona is a nice campground with wooded sites for the most part and a clean bathhouse. The boathouse at the park has a wonderful all you can eat fish fry on Friday nights and we were lucky enough to get to enjoy it. Only $8.95 and delicious with fried or baked fish, baked potatoes, green beans, hush puppies, salad bar, and dessert. Highly recommended!
